Site Coordinators
Welcome to the Central Coast Cal-SOAP website. This page was created for you as a resource tool regarding your role as a Cal-SOAP site coordinator. There is one Cal-SOAP site coordinator at each site, and they are responsible for placing Cal-SOAP tutors/peer advisors in classrooms, tutoring programs, and/or college/career centers. Site coordinators are responsible for ensuring that tutors/peer advisors serve as a positive influence for the students they work with. In addition, they coordinate a Cal-SOAP field trip to a college or university within our consortium.
At the beginning of each school year, site coordinators are required to fill out site coordinator contracts. On June 30 of the academic year, site coordinators will be issued a stipend for assisting us. In addition, site coordinators are required to submit a Tour Request Form.pdf prior to scheduling a field trip. At the end of the academic year, we ask that site coordinators fill out and return a STUDENT EVALUATION FORM.pdf about each of the tutors that worked at your site.
Cal-SOAP tutors/peer advisors are permitted to tutor students in English, math, science, and history. They can also discuss activities related to college and financial aid, and they may particpate in college fairs sponsored by your school site, provide classroom presentations on college topics, and attend Cal-SOAP sponsored activities such as the annual Cal-SOAP funded field trip that you plan.
All tutors/peer advisors are required to collect Cal-SOAP applications from students they work with in order for the Cal-SOAP office to document services. Sometimes it is helpful if you too can encourage students to return applications to their tutor/peer advisor. Likewise, tutors/peer advisors are required to fill out scantron forms each time they tutor/peer advise a student. Scantrons are due with the submission of the tutor timecard (which is to be signed by you) each month.
More useful information regarding your role as a site coordinator can be found in Site Coordinator Ref Manual 2005-2006.pdf.
